Each student at St. John’s Academy is assigned a staff member to be their advisor for the duration of their time at the school. Boarding students will be assigned to one of the Youth Coordinators who work in the boarding Program. Each Youth Coordinator is the person most directly responsible for each student in their own care. The Youth Coordinator addresses parental concerns about any aspect of the boarding program, and provides the direct daily support of each boarding student.
Our boarding program is extremely busy and we believe that an involvement in a wide array of activities serves to enhance each student’s residential life experience. The Youth Coordinators are strive to achieve the goal of involved, challenged, and cared-for students. They provide support, encouragement, and guidance in an environment that is welcoming for all.

Dan is a certified teacher with experience in history, geography, physical education, special education and teaching English language learners. Education was transformational for him, whether it be the lessons he learned, the skills he gained or the relationships he developed. Education has taken him to Australia, China, South Korea, Egypt, Trinidad & Tobago, Ontario and now beautiful Vancouver Island. His position at this school offers the unique opportunity to grow his practice in education and see the entire process; from after school activities to field trips to dorm life to the classroom. What a great opportunity! Passionate about living an active and outdoor lifestyle, Dan cannot wait to explore all the different trails, beaches, sites, and towns that this island has to offer. Whether it be open water swimming, scuba, surfing, hiking, basketball or literally, any other activity (especially with the water), he enjoys the challenges and looks forward to setting goals to push his limits. He truly believes in the school, staff and students and is grateful to be apart of it.
