Message From Principal – Classes Suspended

Hello, students and families of St. John’s Academy,

With the guidance of the Ministry of Education, classes at SJA have been suspended to help curb the spread of COVID19. Infection cases in British Columbia are on the rise and all public gathering spaces are being closed or highly limited.

All students have been informed and they have transitioned to an online learning platform. It does not matter if students stay here in BC or travel back to the home country the learning will still continue.

Student Expectations:

This entails students emailing teachers daily and partaking in the google classroom or zoom platforms that have been established.

All students are required to communicate with their teachers on a daily basis.

All assignments must be handed to the best of their ability as requested by teachers.

Regarding course credits and graduation, we have received the following instructions from the Ministry of Education:

• All students will receive a final mark and students on track to advance to the next grade will do so.

  • Provincial graduation assessments for Grades 10 and 11 will be postponed.
  • Grade 12 students on track to graduatethis year will do so. The Grade 10 Numeracy assessment is a requirement for this year’s graduates and more information will follow for Grade 12 students that still need to meet this requirement.

This is unknown and unchartered territory but our main concern is to ensure the safety of all our students and families.  Communication to families will happen weekly through emails to keep you abreast of any news.
