First Week Back to School
The first week of school after summer vacation is always exciting as returning staff and students reconnect after a long summer. With so many new boarding students joining us this year, it was incredible to see our returning students show the new ones around, helping make them feel at home. Landing in a new country as a new student is not easy – so it was incredible to see students celebrating everything together from birthdays to our first trip to the capital of British Columbia.
Getting back to the campus also meant seeing some of the upgrades that took place over the summer. One of the favourites with students is probably the obstacle course playground. SJA once again is investing in our outdoor spaces, ensuring students have the opportunity to learn both in the classroom and in the great outdoors.
Students loved crawling through the rope tunnel, crossing the slacklines, and climbing along the rock wall. It will be fun seeing how the students get more and more comfortable with the course over the coming year.
It hasn’t taken long for our students to jump back into the arts as well. From a new concert band launching this year, to murals around the school; an exceptional design program and of course plenty of opportunities to paint and create in art class itself – SJA is already getting creative! More and more jobs from engineering to science have a creative component, so we don’t waste any time giving our students the opportunity to express themselves artistically.
We’re only a few days into the 2021-2022 school year, but are already excited by the chance to learn and grow as a school community.
